Join us on Demo Day during the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival.
On June 28, 2018, at the 17th edition of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, ten photonics startups will compete for $1 million dollars in seed money during the Luminate "Light Tomorrow With Today" demo day. Luminate is the only international startup accelerator focused solely on next-generation optics, photonics and imaging (OPI). Luminate is a program of Nextcorps, a non-profit high-tech incubator located in the historic Sibley building in downtown Rochester.
In November 2017, Luminate chose ten winners from a pool of twenty-six finalists to form the first cohort. Each startup received a $100,000 convertible note investment as well as a six-month residency at the research and development space within the Luminate facility. During the week of June 25 the companies will have the opportunity to pitch their technologies and business plans to a global collection of OPI pioneers and qualified investors; on June 28 they compete for $1 million in follow-on funding from the Empire State Development's Finger Lakes Forward initiative. An additional $1 million is also available to be awarded to other finalist companies.
