Michele Nichols Named President Elect of WNY Entrepreneurs' Organization

A New 'Chapter'

Michele-Nichols-023We're excited to share that Launch Team President Michele Nichols has been named president of the Western New York chapter of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) for the 2015-2016 term. Michele has been a member of the organization for four years and looks forward to the opportunity to guide fellow leaders.

EO is a business organization that offers entrepreneurs peer-to-peer learning. The organization has chapters in 48 countries, with annual revenues totaling over $500 billion. The Western New York chapter was founded in 2003 and currently has 54 members.

Varied Voices

EO members represent a variety of industries such as accounting, waste management, health and medical services and education and training. Michele said she recognizes and appreciates the diversity in thought that these members bring to the organization.

“There is something to be learned from each member, and we are actively working to increase that diversity," she said. "For me, joining EO meant joining a powerful peer group and having the opportunity to learn and connect with other entrepreneurs. It gives us a broader perspective for our companies, employees and clients."

Advancing Growth

Michele has an extensive background in marketing and operations management. Along with her team, she provides integrated marketing services to high tech, optics, photonics and instrumentation companies looking to grow sales.

Michele said her primary interest in becoming president of the WNY chapter is advancing job growth and benchmarking. "It's time to change the story, refocus on entrepreneurial companies,” she said. “A lot of cool things are happening, and it's important they are recognized."

Michele also hopes to increase the organization's impact during her term.

"I think real change will come from small and mid-size businesses with good jobs and a sense of pride and tribe. Helping good people create sustainable growth is the goal," she said. Increasing member participation, recruiting new members and organizing valuable events are also on her "to-do" list.

First Female President

Michele is the first woman to be elected president of EO WNY. About nine percent of members are are women, which reflects the percent of female entrepreneurs globally. "We're looking to change that," Michele said.

The EO WNY chapter will be hosting an informational lunch for potential members in Rochester on Oct. 29 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. For more information, those interested can email JP Midgely at jp@teamavalon.com.
